The finals should have been postponed to the next day to give fair chance to both the teams. Yes, final was a "washout"!

However, it was a treat watching Gilchrist play his innings and all said and done, Australia deserved the win. Sri Lanka could have played better, but their bowlers could not stop the Aussie batsmen going berseck with their bats!

On the whole, this world cup would not be an unforgettable event, with Woolmer murder(?), India and Pakistan exiting in first round and not the least, teams like Bangla Desh and Ireland showing to the world that they are not to be written off anymore!

Well i must tell this.Sri lankans were not ready to play a 38 over game. You know their full potential is when they play 50 over games. They build up slowly and acclerate in the middle overs.Thats the type of team we have seen.Where Aussiees are quite different with a tendancy to do pinch hitting from the beginning to the end which. When the number of overs were reduced aussiees got a big advantage coz they could play their natural game where they did.

Actually Sri lankans started to panic from the begining coz of the sudden radical reduction of overs and eventually made their strike bowlers to give many runs away.ADAM GILCHRIST PLAYED FANTASTICALLY AND I SIMPLY DONT KNOW HOW HE GOT THAT AWESOME POWER YESTERDAY AND HE WAS OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE YESTERDAY.

He was simply devastating sri lankans.Didnt you notice that all other australian batsmen could not score run a ball including ponting. So i feel for a moment that gilchrist had something special which no one had.

ICC is the worst sport organization at the planet. ICC is corrupted. They have no respect of cricket & cricketers. Their rules of cricket are also dumbiest, specially that damn rule of D/L method. It always goes in the favour of Aussies. Watch the history of World cup from 1999 to 2007. Aussies won the semifinal of 99 against South Africa by D/L . They further won the semifinal of 2003 against Srilanka and now Srilanka again got screwed by the match officals and Aussies won the final against Srilanka by D/L method again. What the hell is that ? The all cricket lovers over the world should protest and even should sue against ICC for the thing like that. DOWN with ICC !!!! ICC will be Rest In Peace !!! SRILANKA !!! Although U did not got the trophy of ICC WorldCup 2007 but U R still the Real World Cricket Champions !!! WELL DONE !!!

I also feel that it was quite unfortunate that the final became in such a mess due to rain. However, even if was decided to play the final the next day, was there any guarantee whether there will be no rain and game can be played for 50 overs?

Forget the sour grapes mate.Sri Lanka were comprehensively outplayed by the present masters of the game!
Yes it is dissapointing that 50 overs werent played as then (judging by the 7.5 run rate) we would have well over400 runs and had the opportunity to bowl Sri Lanka out.
The ending was a fiasco and the rules should be looked at to bring them back to reality...
Simply the consistant, dominant team won, face it mate!

I agree with 'elsewere' that the innings by Gllchrist will never be forgotten.
The rain messed up the WC finals, but there wasnt much they could do about it.
The Aussies beat the lankans, and the lankans will just have to deal with that. too bad for them.
CONGRATS AUSSIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
