OMG how big is the PS3, its officially the biggest console bigger than original xbox ina serious way! but its not all bad! it doubles as a heater if you ever stuck in a cold room! HAHA ! WHO agrees!

But you just know that sony will bring out a smaller one in many years to come! and as an owner of a wii, and 360...(soon to be ps3 when i have spare moneys) the wii is coolest! as in heat wise and looks!

Dude you get what you pay for. Either you want a full entertainment system, blue ray, mp3 etc... with awesome games coming out or you don't. As far as the space heater-- The xbox 360 and wii and ps3 all put out enough heat to raise the temperature in a room,
They are all just doing their part to help us with conservation. ;)
Response to your edit: The original ps2 was large because it was supposed to have an addon of a hardrive and other things that the owner could install. So the original ps2 was almost an empty case. When they decided to start working on the ps3 they simply gave up on the ps2 addons and started producing smaller cases. If you own a ps3 and cracked it open you'd see all the space is used efficiently.
So for hdmi 1.3 true hd video and audio and ps3 blue ray games (50gig capacity discs) versus the xbox 360 and elite without hd audio surround and still produces games on 8 gig dvd discs and an outdated dx9 graphics system which cannot be upgraded, I'd say Ps3 will do just fine. Seriously who wants to have to by a new Xbox every year cause microsoft does the bare minimum.

Yes its huge! I am a wii owner too and the developers are bringing out loads of games for it soon, unlike the ps3 which only has the new GTA on offer and thats not even out yet! Cant think of any current ps3 game thats any good!

I completely agree. You don't realize its size in the pictures. When I got mine and took it out of the box I was floored at its size.
