You are real;ly asking two different questions. You will study whatever you need to study for your entire life. It may be just a manual, or a complete book, but there will always be something to look through and ponder, experiment with or let go of. This is study. Thre highest college degree is the Doctorate, or the PHD, which is a Doctor of Philosophy. Upon attaining this degree, the study doesn't stop, just the formal education. Even formal education need not stop. You will study as long as you want to and achieve the degree that you want to achieve.

How long is a piece of string? The short answer is: twice as long as half it's length. In terms of study, you will only derive full awarenes of your chosen subject by lifelong study because we are all learning as we go along. As for academic study, that will depend on your personal effort and input, coupled with your various tutor's willingness to help you succeed. Then you can only wish for that 'Eureka' moment.
