Hi, most machines don't come with a recovery disc, you have to burn them yourself.
This should have been done when you first switched on your machine for the first time. It is possible that you may still be able to do it unless you bought your dell second hand. Some machines have a programme in programmes where you can restore to factory settings. Advent for example has this.
Try searching through all the crap that dells come with and see if you can find anything to do with recovery. Failing that use the search facility and look up words like recovery, factory, back up etc.
Last resort is ring dell and tell them that you never got a recovery disc with the laptop. They will probably tell you that you have to burn your own then ask them how to do that. You still maybe able to get a disc from them but they will charge you. Hope this helps.
ANYONE ELSE READING THIS WHO DOESN'T HAVE A RECOVERY DISC THEN BURN ONE NOW COS IF YOUR HARD DRIVE SUDDENLY FRIES, YOUR STUFFED.

You could try using the system recovery option that should be on your computer, this will restore your computer back to factory settings just like it was when you first brought the PC,
(no installation disks required),
however this option will also delete any software programs that you might have in stalled on the PC since then so copy any file or document that you want saved on a removable CD-ROM disk and follow the on-screen instructions. I had to do this with my PC the other day as I was getting error messages all the time, but since I carried out the system recovery option the computer has worked the way it should do and I have noticed that it seems a bit faster in loading programs as well so good luck with this

Hi Whenever you turn you pc on at the very start there should be a few signs appears on the screen liks Bios setting F2 , then is there not one with F11 or F12 keys appear. If there is hit one of those (not the bio one ) and it should take you to a default factory settings page. Failing that i suggest contacting Dell im sure theres an agent in great britain. Would a systems restore not do you instead.?

Your laptop must have a restore point created on the date when it was bought. If not, the only way is to contact Dell tech support or take your laptop to a Dell service center.

There is probably a hidden partition that has an image of your original software on it. Check the documentation and I'll bet there is a simple method of restoring. Good luck.
