There is always the possibility of a Third World War. As for when and how, you will not see a world war unless there are at least two strong aliances fighting each other. They way the world is now, you'd probably have to have someone like say North Korea and Iran allying themselves against say the US and Britain and then you'll see people choosing sides. The use of Nuclear weapons will never deter a war, it will only deter the use of nuclear weapons against each other. During the first world war there was a wide use of chemical weapons and in the second world war there wasn't because both sides knew that if they started using them, the other side would as well. After the second world war you had a banning of chemical weapons anyway because there was the constant worry of the other side using them. It is likely that since the use of Nuclear weapons against Japan in the second world war, should there be a thrid world war, both sides would refrain from using nukes for fear of being nuked themselves.

Yes, and it will be the Islamic countries against everyone else. The Koran states that they must war to subjugate the world to Islam. In actuality it is only the fundamentalists who want war, but they have terrified moderate and peaceful Moslems into keeping quiet and the fundamentalists are trying to gain control of the governments. Free, democratic, open societies in the Islamic world would put the pin back in the grenade. We cannot allow those regimes to gain power in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon or anywhere else and if one does come to power we must do everything neccessary to replace it with one of, for and by the people. War is a last resort, but we may have it forced upon us and that war we must win.

WW I was brought on by interlocking treaties and the inability to communicate fast enough to call off mobilisations. WW II was the results of two groups of madmen who were willing to destroy their own countries in a attempt to conquer the world, Nazis and Tojo's group. If the mad mullahs can be stopped, we have a chance of not having another world war. China is rapidly gaining too much to risk losing it in a war they cannot win. While China will not accept that Taiwan is a seperate country, the last area held by the previous government, it is in fact independent.

If cowardice prevails, as it seems to, Taiwan may be abandoned, but then which nation will be next and at what point will it stop, when China attempts to annex Australia? When will Leftist cowardice stop and people realize that there are things worth fighting and dying for?

Yet without perfect foreknowledge of future events there is no way to predict accurately what the future will bring. We are where we are now because of educated guesswork done by people who were supposed to be good at guessing. Some guessed another way and weren't listened to. Because we can look back and see where the guesses led and which guesses would have been better, everyone gets in on the blame game, but AT THE TIME those critics had no better idea of what the results wouldbe if their ideas were followed and if their ideas had failed there would still be critics with perfect hindsight and zero foresight excoriating the bad guessers.

One might say it's happening or close to happening. There are, and have been, more than two countries involved. Generally, however, WW 3 is defined as Armageddon. The end. Game Over.
It could happen if China and/or Russia became directly involved. The U.S. seems to have an interest in discouraging U.S. based business from doing business with China. By compelling China to float the dollar (under the pretense of eliminating a trade deficit), big profits are lost.
China in turn has inflated the value of the Euro, the Pound and many other major currencies against its Renminbi. This puts pressure on the U.S. to discourage all those countries from doing business with China.
China can't be "happy."
I believe if China is pushed too hard, China will enlist the aid of Russia, India and North Korea and try to force certain economic issues.
America, of course, couldn't stand for a taste of their own meds, and would rather destroy Earth, than submit.
That's how I think it could happen. Of course, I better be wrong.

No there will never be another full scale world war. There may however be proxy wars in which opposing countries support different fighting factions this has been going on since world war 2. The reasons that there will never be another full scale world war are that the richest countries are focussed upon economics more than anything else in the modern world.

There is a possibility...
~G.W. said "all cards are on the table" when asked about invading Iran.
~Russia said that they will back Iran
~Russia has given weapons(don't remember what kind) to China and Iran
~China knows that if they attack Taiwan, that the U.S.A. will come to help Taiwan.
~Don't forget about NATO or other pacts and treaties. These will bring more countires into the picture.
What does this all mean? If China goes into Taiwan, we'll be fighting China. If we invade Iran, we'll also be fighting Russia. Other countires may be involved if they signed a treaty with any of those countries.
Its not WWIII yet and it may never be but keep a watch out.

If there is it will be this century, China and America. It probably and hopefully will never happen, but if it does, the only winner will be the grim reaper and those who aren't much of a fan of civilisation.

By the way, America wouldn't help Taiwan if China attacked. It has way too much to lose just economically never mind the military casualties.

I personally believe there will be a WW3 but I think it will be the War that will be of all wars. It will be the end of life as we know it. The war that the Bible speaks of in the Book of Revelations.
