This is a popular technique right now, to criticize the president, for several reasons.
One is because he has in fact done some things that experts are questioning in relation to the war.
Also, it is just the way the political world works.
If the Democrats want to win in '08, they need to distinguish themselves from the president and point out why there should be a change.
I don't like the idea of people in the same family getting to be president, like what happened with W, but I must say that I saw Hillary Clinton in person a few times in congressional settings, and she was very articulate and probably is the smartest one out there.
I don't like her personally but she impressed me on the issues.

Actually one candidate that I know of on the dem side is running on solutions, ideas, and innovative thought and that is John Edwards. But obviously you would not know that if you are another one of those republicans brainwashed by Fox News.
John Edwards has ALWAYS been in the forefront of stating his stand on all issues, i.e. ending our occupation of Iraq, healthcare, education, poverty, the environment, etc. Oh right, those are issues the republicans don't care about.....my bad......THAT'S why you don't think any of the dem candidates have an original thought............

So far, I have not heard any unique ideas -- from any candidate, since before 2000.
All I have heard from Republicans, Democrats, Independents and other dark horses is negative campaigns, fear and spin. All BS and bluster.

Because any good ideas will be pilfered and borrowed by the Republicans?
Who wants to give the Cons any lead by giving up too many good ideas so early in the campaign.
No, I say, let the Democrats continue to bash Bush and appear strong and steadfast. When it comes to the policies, they can make their case later on to prevent anyone borrowing their ideas.

QUICK ANSWER; Its impossible for politicians to campaign on merit, they have none. THATS why they're politicians. To think of it makes it all seem rather borish and immature doesnt it?

Almost anyone of them could win even if they never spoke a word. The republicans record for the last six years speaks volumes to the incompetence and corruption of the republican party.

Now who would vote for communism? The Democrats have to disguise it as liberalism helping the people.
