my WD external firewire drive is clicking, won't mount?

I am on Mac osX, drive is less than a year old, though I bought it in a 3rd party enclosure. help. disk utility, system profiler and disk warrior don't see it.

There is something wrong with the external drive. Open the enclosure and check all connections.

Still stuck? Take it back to the vendor, it may be defective.
