Torture of terrorism suspects, the bedlam in Irak, the suspensions of human rights, nasty discrimination against Amerian citizens, the church in bed with the state, and one or two other things, have left some serious egg on Uncle Sam's face. Do we have any clean hand towels handy to wipe off Uncle Sam's face?

Yes,
FDR regained prestige after Hoover.
JFK showed the power of diplomacy enhancing Americas credibility and prestige
Reagan showed what a good Republican President can do, and also enhanced Americas image,
Then Bush Jr. (Sr. Bush was alright) comes in charge and ruins all that work.

Torturing terrorists??? Did we cut some heads off, don't thinks so, and if it got us the information we needed, why not, the Soviets did, the Chinese are still doing it, and what are Turkey's prisons famous for.
The bedlam in Iraq?? Oh, you must mean the ending of murder, torture and imprisonments by Hussein.
What human rights have been suspended, what discrimination, Church??? You must be a European, because none of this has happened here.
Uncle Sam's face needs a hand towel? I guess we use Osama's head dress (diaper) to wipe off all that explosive residue from Afghanistan...LOL.....You are a joke.

Most countries have embarrassing governments or officials they understand that. Unfortunately the damage Bush has done will live on in the reduced ability we will have economically to influence world events due to his poor strategy of tax cuts at the same time as hes chosen to fight an expensive war all on the American taxpayers cuff.
We will be so busy paying this off that the world will be aware that we won't be in any shape to mount another major effort for years to come. Bush's second election also called into question the American people themselves for choosing a known incompetent...again.

It will probably take at least 2 decades to fix. We are going downhill so fast now in the last little bit here and yet it will be much harder to try to fix when Bush finally leaves office.

How about voting everybody in government out of office. Can you imagine if the country said in one unified voice, "We will not tolerate being lied to, manipulated and robbed?"
I wouldn't care which party triumphed because the message would be clear and succinct: you serve at the pleasure of the voters.

Yes. Other countries are waiting for the results of the next presidential elections and hoping we elect someone better. That's why US relations with other nations hasn't gotten worse than it is now.
