I'm on a local satellite network and always have a connection of 100mb/s, now all of a sudden I'm not receiving any data and webpages won't load even though it still says connected. When I check on the status it's still sending data it's just not receiving anything or loading any webpages. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? Is this something that the administrator controlling the switch may have done? I suspect this may have been done in order to speed up the connection of others, but I'd like to educate myself before accusing anyone of anything. Thanks for any help.

There are several things that can cause this including a defective eithernet card. To trouble shoot I would suggest you check your local IP addresss. (be sure you have one) On XP you should be able to click the Status tab on the connection and see what IP you have been assigned.
The 100Mb is comming from your local eithernet connection NOT from the internet! You can check to see if you can ping anything else on the local network (like the gateway IP)

Now if all that is over the top. get help. Ask someone to see if they can help you resolve your connection issue. It may be just a matter of resetting the router, DHCP server, etc. Without some more details thats about all I can tell you.
