i asked her if she could buy me some pads yesterday when she went to the store, and she said "ok" but then she came back said she dint kno i meant to get them right then, and she has too much on her mind, because shes havin an on going fight with my dad , but its not like it can really wait that long , and now she is like " why wont u wear tampns ? " and i dont feel comfotable wearing them , and i cant cuz they hurt , and she said shell get me some tomarow after noon , and untill then i have to either wear tampons or use toilet paper .. ive been livin off of toilet paper for 2 days now !! and it suks ... i am just reely angry now , how can i talk to my mom about this with out getting ina fight ?

Oh man..when I was a virgin I put in a tampon to see what the big deal about it was, and when it came time to take it out it took me like 30 minutes and I was in tears and panicking because I couldn't take it out, it hurt sooo bad. So I know what you're talking about. Just tell her that it hurts you...as your mother, she should understand and she shouldn't want you to be hurt like that! I'm sorry hun, that would be so frustrating.

When I started my period I used pads and I still do as I'm quite young and don't feel comfortable with tampons myself - it's absolutely fine that you don't want to use tampons - you only should use them when you feel ready but when you insert them they shoulden't hurt unless you've inserted them wrong. If you have inserted it correctly then you shoulden't feel a thing. Make sure when you try to use them then read the instructions in the pack and follow the step by step guide of how to insert a tampon properly. After a few tries you'll be an expert! Go to www.beinggirl.com and you can read loads of top information and advise about periods and how to deal with them - you can even claim for free samples of always pads!
Tell your mum that you're are really unhappy with having to wear tampons and that maybe you could compromise? If she bought you both then you could wear pads whilst practising how to use tampons to keep her happy. Remember every girl has to go through periods so don't feel alone at any point. Good luck!

It's not a good idea to wear tampons to sleep because it can create problems (just wanted to mention this in case you were wondering), but let your mom know that you don't want to wear tampons because you are not comfortable while wearing them because they hurt.
Another thing you could do to help some of the blood is use a cotton bath towel (one that is a bit older, not a new one) to see if that helps to pick up some of the blood flow.
As for preventing a fight with your mom take her off to the side and say "could we talk for a minute please" and then tell her what you feel about this. If that doesn't work try talking to another female family member or trusted female adult friend about your concern.

You can say that politely though! I think the decision is entirely up to you, nobody can 'make' you wear something you're not comfortable with.
Some of my friends never wear tampons and they're in thier mid-twenties.
I think it's soooo unhygienic to use toilet paper as a pad! You can either get someone to buy you pads today/ wear tampons/ wrap some cotton in old knickers or a piece of clean cloth and use it as a pad until you sort yourself out (disgusting I know, but ANYTHING is better than toilet paper)
As for your mum, explain to her calmly that you don't feel comfortable wearing tampons and that you'd rather use pads! I am sure she will understand...
If she didn't get your grandmother/ aunt / a female you trust to convince her. Meanwhile, stand your ground and do NOT wear tampons if you don't want to!

You are going to have to learn to say NO in a firm but polite way. Tell you Mom they hurt because you are a virgin. I would think any mother would prefer her daughter to be a virgin and use pads then to have to start worrying about her daughter becoming pregnant. All I can add is good luck!!

My goodness, I would be mad like hell. Your mom most of all should understand you. I would get in a fight if I have to so next time your mom will not forget buying pads when you need them.
