sheesh, everyone has got the wrong idea, you made it sound like your wife was spending money on another man (not ur son., he didnt get a mention till the end) and showing her love for him in front of you...
This is not good for your son but mothers sometmes cant help it, He needs love not money, firm hands, as well as a friend, and he knows that mum is wrapped round his little finger. You need to tell her you must work together on this or he will always think you will get him out any situation (and you probably will but he doesnt need to know that)
He must learn to be self suffient, support himself etc..
You and your wife must wrk together, its the only way! if your not a team it will cause many problems and obviously already has.
Sit with your wife and discuss this properly....
And dnt be too quick to wish him out of the door... one day - I garentee you will need him and you will wish you had spent more time together, while you could, before he moved on and grew up.

No sure what sort of relationship that you and the Mrs. are living but I don't think it would fly in our house. Might be time to take a good look in the mirror and check and see if your wearing a little sign on your back that says "FOOL".

It's great that you both love him. Don't spoil him too badly though. He'll need to learn to do without in college because no matter how much you give him, it'll be half gone the first week.

Just remember if he writes home:
Dear Dad,
Need money, send it quick. Love your son.
Respond with: Dear Son,
So sad, too bad. Love your Dad.

You can't be serious, and your still there. Don't let the door hit you in the butt my friend. I wouldn't stay with that person for a minute, except for the cops to pull me off of him. Get out.

lol you had my attention! I think it's great to love your child but to lavish them with all your money and expensive things is not good for the child! Spoil him with love, not money. If he grows up to be lazy guess who he's going to call on to supply his every need? mmhhmmm mom and dad!
