The doors are patio doors and open 180degrees, the trouble is there doesn't appear to be a way of holding them open (we currently use patio chairs!). We were wondering if there is a item we could buy that would help ?

Edited to explain that the patio doors are approximately 12"/30cm off the ground, so a door wedge or door stop won't work :(
I was thinking that we could attach some kind of a latch, but the only thing we can attach it to is the conservatory frame, which is upvc and I wasn't sure if that's possible?

Go to LIDL this week, they are selling heavy chrome door stops for £2.99. Three designs.

My suggestion would be to talk with whoever sold you the house and get as much info on the history of the house or events that happened near the house. My religious belief is shamanism and when things like that occur we would have a shaman come sweep the house (similar to blessing the house) I am a believer in ghosts and have had a few encounters myself. The part where your husband feels someone holding him down is when the ghost is present and harassing him. A trick I figured was to relax and try moving your toes until you're free and then turn to the side. sleep on your side instead of facing up. And whatever you decide to do never challenge the spirit unless you have someone very experienced and could connect with the spiritual world. Good luck and be safe.

They sell door stops at the hardware store,
kind of like the ones that you would see at
the bottom of the wall behind a door, but
now they make them to fit on the hinge to
the door that you want to stay open! = )

With the doors fully open drill a hole in the floor and drop a bolt or rod against the door

There is something that can be attached to the top of the door that will make it harder to push open-can't remember what they are called but when we had our french doors fitted we had the option of having them. Phone a double glazing company and I am sure that they will tell you what they are.

There are decorative items that can be used as door stops such as small statues. if the doors swing all the the way back to the wall you could also attach chain latch.
