I been skipping sugar pills and never had a period for 3 month now until yesterday when i was on a past active pill in my last pack and ready to take a brand new pack active pill. Is it normal? Its just spotting, seems like almost going to an end but still it strike me because i though skipping sugar pills would be guaranteed skipped period?

Yes, sometimes spotting and breakthrough bleeding (not the actual period but acts like one because of the way you take the pill, I've had issues with this off and on for 10 years) can occur when trying to adjust to being on the pill continuously (meaning you don't take the sugar pills). It takes more time to adjust to continuous birth control pills than when taking the pill in the normal fashion (meaning the whole pack).

Sometimes the spotting and breakthrough bleeding can be caused by the fact that the pill doesn't have enough estrogen in it to handle being used on a continuous basis so one needs to go higher up the birth control pill scale (this is what I have to do at times).

I would definitely get in touch with your dr to let them know what is going on so that it can be documented in case you run in to some other problems as you continue using the pill taking just the hormone pills.

My dr explained to me that we still cycle on the inside even while on continuous although we may not have the visible signs.

It wouldn't hurt to call the doctor - but it's probably nothing. The same thing happened to me a few years ago - I tried to skip my period with the pill, and a few days later (sorry for the grossness) I started to bleed old, black, clotted blood and did for days. The doctor said that it was no big deal, but that I may not be able to skip periods - some of us are just programmed to bleed every month. I totally understand - my boyfriend is in the military, and I am so bummed when I have my period when I get to see him!

Sugar pills have no effect on your body. They are simply there to remind you to take your active pills. Something else is not ok. But then again, spotting is normal.
