Dry Vermouth is one version but, I'm pretty sure this is the version that was drunk during WW2 http://www.in-the-spirit.co.uk/cocktails/view_cocktail.php?id=124. Dunno if I would like either though. Gin and I had a bad experience once. lol

Sure the English had their 'Victory' Gin, the French had their 'Noilly Prat' Original French Dry Vermouth, but the in-crowd in France drank Absinthe.

It's French Vermouth, usually Ricard or Noilly Prat.

The "French" part refers to dry vermouth

Mixture is 6/10 gin; 4/10 vermouth dry.

1..5 Shots Gin
1.5 Shots Noilly Prat Dry
Top up Tonic Water
and you get ..Gin and french cocktail
