Some of his lessons air on PBS in the U.S. Your local library may have one of his videos or dvd's.

He has really really simple lessons that will have you playing great stuff in no time. I never had lessons but have played the piano my whole life, writing music and everything, but it never made any sense till I watched some of his lessons.

I tried learning by myself, and didn't get too far. Then I started learning with my daughter (not actually taking lessons, but doing the same things that she is doing).

I don't think there's any substitute for consistent, daily practice. And if you want to get the fingerings right, you need to start at the beginning -- where they tell you *exactly* where to put your fingers.

Why don't you get a beginning book, practice one page every day for a week, and work your way up -- in the meantime, you can keep playing your harder songs for fun. Use the book as warm-up, and you'll start to figure out the easier ways to play things. It'll be kind of hard re-training yourself, but it will be worth it.

I cheat. I use the computer to layer my own playing and sometimes compose the rhythym parts entirely on the pc and just play melody over them.
