Depression is common among separated/divorced people. I lost 20% of my body weight, because I lost my appetite for a month and did not eat the entire time. Also, vomited at first, for a couple of days, until my stomach was completely empty, then had the "dry heaves" for the rest of the month. Had crying spells that would come without warning and often at the most inopportune times, they were uncontrollable, embarrasing, and they were triggered by words and events. I also experienced forgetfulness, anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbances such as fatigue, insomnia, nightmares, and I started drinking too much. The excessive drinking got out of control, and so it caused me a lot of additional legal, financial, and emotional trouble, at a time in my life when I was already at my weakest. Felt hopelessness and despair, alienation, extreme intense hatred to my ex, to the government, and to the rest of the world. Had the shakes. All I wanted to do was sleep. I had no interest in life, or in the activities I used to enjoy before. In fact, I had suicidal thoughts, and almost followed through with the ideas. Depression is long gone now, and I am almost fully recovered from my divorce. Anyway, the things I described above are what depression feels like.

A depressed individual certainly knows that he/she isdepressed. Not wanting to wake up in the morning, having no hope for better days and feeling a tremendous melancholy are some elements that most depressed people go through.
If you have been through a lot lately and you are sad that does not mean you are depressed. Depression is a progressive disease that takes time. Give yourself time to cope with all the things you have gone through.

Depression feels like a cloudy day that goes on forever. You feel like nobody is listening to you and nobody cares. You may want to sleep all the time just to avoid your life. You may eat or drink or do drugs, anything to feel better. You may feel tired all the time even though you slept all day and all night. You may feel like you are wading through a giant mud puddle, that everything takes way too much effort to keep going. There are checklists online which might help you see whether you are or not.

You'll know, you wont want to get out of bed, you'll cry uncontrollably, you will absolutely not be able to (in your mind) go anywhere or do anything and you dont want to anyway. You would have a feeling in the pit of your stomach that you cant stand, you would probably want to sleep as much as possible. My point is you will know, I am sure, and if you think you are, you need to see a doctor right away, depression shouldn't be taken lightly under any circumstances.

Talk to your doctor. Call the mental institution in your area and make an appointment with a doctor there. The state we live in gives free help by just filling out a form and income is not an issue. Depression is nasty. Get help now before it gets out of control. My wife waited and by the time she finally went she had us in a state of depression by her depression.

Depression? I know it's something no one likes to be in. It makes you not want to do the things you like to do most. It makes your life miserable. Your never happy and some people lose sleep or just all ways want to sleep Because they don't want to deal with reality. It's a messed up feeling. It's like your over the hill. and you just don't find life's quality's amusing no more.
