i am 12 weeks pregnant with my fourth child, earlier today i started having a clear sticky discharge, if i was term i would say it was my mucous plug starting to come away (also know as a 'show'). i havent had any bleeding or pain besides normal ligiment pain. any ideas of what this could be?

its different to my normal discharge which is why i was wondering.

When I was 16 weeks with my second child, I lost my mucous plug.(it was accompanied with pain and bleeding) I dilated to a 1 and was having contractions. The emergency room staff told me that I was going to lose my baby and sent me home. I went the next day to my doctor and turned out I had a infection that he called cervicitis. He said it was caused from moisture and things like having sex irritated it. As a result I dilated and lost my plug. However as long as you find out what is causing it and it gets treated your mucus plug does grow back it will replinish itself. Definetly go see a Doctor. If it is a infection and you go and get it treated all will be ok.

Just sounds like normal discharge to me. Discharge is mucous as well, just like the mucous plug so don't worry. If ever in doubt though, check with your doctor. Some women get a lot of discharge and others get hardly any and every pregnancy you have is a little different. Doesn't sound like you should be too concerned. Good luck!
