Hannah of course. Someone commented about being called "Hannah Banana," My parents called me that from the time I was born. No one could tease me in school because it was normal to me it has always been my nickname. Even at 21 I dont' care if people call me that. The originality issue, while I haven't personally come across very many Hannahs. In my 15 years of schooling I have never had a class where a person had my name. And its a palindrome, there aren't many of those in the world. I am tired racecar is the only one I can think of right now.

My name is Hannah and i have never been teased about it and i love my name a lot. I think Chanel is a name for someone who has never heard of the brand. If you call someone Hannah then they are less likely to be teased than Chanel. I have all sorts of nicknames but when i get called them i feel happy and loved. Nicknames: Hanskins, Hannah Banana, Nana, Hannah Spanner, Hanhoo, ananas...
If i didn't have these nicknames then it would feel like i wasn't cared enough about to bother thinking of a nickname and i mean what nickname can you give Chanel??? Chancer? Chan? Chaneee? ChaCha??
Perfume? Coco?
Not very nice nicknames.

Hannah for sure. There is absolutely no doubt it should be Hannah. Chanel should remain the clothing and accessory label and nothing more. You must remember that it originated as a last name, not a first name. If you want the person your naming to have any credibility in society whatsoever, please name her Hannah.

I definately agree that Chanel sounds like a chihuahua name. Hannah is very pretty. And I'm not saying that just because it's half of my middle name.

Hannah. Chanel should be used only for perfume...Hannah is a palindrome...it is spelled the same both forward and backward, and that is so much fun to design, plus it is a pretty name.

Chanel is less common. theres a lot of hannahs out there....
and Chanel almost seems more exotic but they are both good names so you are safe with either one you choose =]

Name for what? A pet, your child, a stripper stage name? It's all contextual! I would stay away from Chanel except in the last case (and then use it only if you have a very smart bob & a long string of pearls). There will only ever be one Coco Chanel so it would be a tough act to follow.
