but do you find all of the questions posted just asking for stars annoying? do people realise stars arent worth any points? or are stars somehow part of the orange badge equation? and what with people trying to trick you into starring them and promising points in return? does this really work on people?

the stars are really just there if you see a question your contacts might like.

I don't even have any contacts. The only reason I star a question is if i think it is funny or interesting, and mostly just to let the questioner know I like it. A gold star always makes people feel good, even if it's just a little..

And by writing that you were basically asking for stars...

I won't star your question. I don't know why so many people want them. As you say they aren't worth any points, and no, they do not have anything to do with t.c. badges.

I star people if they ask because it's effortless. If it makes them feel good to have a star there's no harm in it.

I didn't like the question posted earlier about the Answers update. Star my question and refresh the page and see what happens. That was lame and I took my star away. I think everyone else did too.

If I find aquestion interesting or I want to direct others to the question, I will leave a star. When I get them, it encourages me to try to write more interesting questions, because I know people appreciate them. it seems to me that the starred questions get more visitors than non starred questions. Of course I can't prove it.

Promising ;points in return is a doubtful promise at best, since there is only one reward for BA and more than one promise might work once but most folks won't fall for it twice.

What are the stars even there for anyway. I don't know how people fall for the whole I will give you points if you star me bit because last time I checked you could only give points to one person. I guess some people like alot of stars because it makes them feel special. Although I'm not going to lie if someone asks to star their question if I like it and I if I do like it I end up starring it I don't do it for points though.

I only star questions if I want to get my contact's attention. They're free and dont have any effect so I just star people who ask for them, no harm done I suppose

after level 7 well all the levels the points mean nothing but the stars are like a compliment to the asker saying hey good question.

If I think someone asks a good question or one of interest to me I star it.

I star questions I want to know the answer to so I don't have to ask the same question later...

i think it does and yes i find them annoying lol. if I set up a question saying every person that starred me would get 20 bucks if they sent me their email, i'd get tons of responses lmao - people want something for nothing, even if it's just a good for nothing star on YA
