In this question it would be better to include opinions of Chinese scholars too. They would have a better opinion of the khan than a western scholar. At least I think they would since they would know him better. How about it can someone from there answer this?

This is a poor question, due to the completely subjective nature of the response.
However, Alexander was known as the creator of cities and Genghis Khan was known as the destroyer of cities. Genghis Khan had a far greater positive impact on his people, but Alexander had a far greater impact on the western world.

I think there are many people who think Genghis was greater than Alexander. In my opinion Alexander was better than Genghis because he was much less destructive. The Mongols devastated China, Persia and Iraq, and these places never really recovered. However much this destruction was by Genghis Khan's successors.

Alexander is greater because he can conquer a nation or place by force, by diplomacy and by politics(marrying the princess of some country/nation). Genghis howerver only conquered by force. Plus, alexander brought great changes to the nations he conquered in terms of culture. Genghis ravaged what he conquered.

Was he?
Alexander was a Greek and Genghis was a Mongol. Greek culture is the basis of our own culture while Mongol culture is alien to us. So we say that Alexander brought civilization while Genghis did not. It is an error coming from our custom to see our civilization as the only civilization and the others as barbarians.

What Khan conquered were mostly barren stretches of land (i.e. Northern Russia). Though he was destructive and successful Alexander was probably the better ruler. He conquered heavily fortified land and was actually quite benevolent when he went about it.

Are you suggesting he was, or are you asking which was greater? Your question is not very clear.
