If a man is musically inclined and writes a love song and even dedicates it to a woman and even profits from it. It is considered romantic or cool. Like that song by the Rolling Stones; " You will be mone all mine... I will be your Knight in shinning armour " or the one by Def Leppard; " I will be always be two steps behind you.. " Now, let's turn off the music, keep the lyrics, drop the bands title and lead singers name and have a common man go up to someone he likes and say it to them. Then,it's creepy if he were to include those lyrics in a card attached to flowers to a female co worker or woman he hardly knows. Yet, when the song comes on the radio and inspires a man to be more romantic and open with his felings. It's alsmost as bad as murder if he softens up and opens up a little and says the very same words to a woman.
The man is conditioned by the mass media to be more romantic, softer, gentler,in touch with his feelings. Then he try's and he's stomped into the chest. Why ?

I think that it 's a bit shocking on a personal level because it's not common to experience that. Also, a song is a public offering. It's saying things in a indirect way....it's not the same as a person, standing in front of you, saying similar things. Personal interaction like that can be scary for some folks. Sounds like you're a true romantic---don't worry, the right girl for you WILL appreciate your romantic offerings (song, poem, or otherwise).

"I always say I love you, and all you do is slap me with a restraining order" They just don't write songs like that anymore.
