Well if you belive in God, then God created the world, but if you don't then you would belive in the Big Bang theory, where the world was made from an explsion of a little concentrated ball in space.

Do you refer to the planet itself or the society that we currently find ourselves in?

Well, the planet was created via the Big Bang - I'm a complete physics idiot, but that's what I know.

The society was formed half by coincidence and half by intention - human intention, that is.
