This is an email I got and I completely agree with....
There are African Americans, Mexican Americans
Asian Americans, Arab Americans, Native Americans, etc.
And then there are just Americans.
You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.
You Call me "White boy," "Cracker," "Honkey,"
"Whitey," "Caveman" .. And that's OK.
But when I call you, ******, Kike, Towel head, Sand-******,
Camel Jockey, Beaner, ****, or Chink ... You call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you,
then why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
You have the United ***** College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day. You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You Have Yom Hashoah You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi You have the NAACP.
You have BET. You have Miss Black America
If we had WET (White Entertainment Television).. We'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day .. You would call us racists.
If we had White History Month . We'd be racists.
If we had Miss White America.. We'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to "advance" OUR lives ..
We'd be racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,
a Black Chamber of Commerce,
and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that?
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...
You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US ,
yet if there were "White colleges" .. THAT would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching
For your race and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights, You would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange,
and you're Not afraid to announce it.
But when we announce our white pride .. You call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us.
But, when a white police officer Shoots a black gang member
or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law
and posing a threat to society ..You call him a racist.
I am proud. But, you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists?

I can't disagree with anything either the original questioner or any of the respondents have said, nor can I really say what they did any better.
I can, however, clear up one major misconception that still seems to haunt the whole Confederate flag debate. The flag with 11 stars inside a blue "X" on a red field was NOT the flag of the Confederacy, it was a battle flag.
It should also be noted that just because the Civil War pitted North against South it doesn't mean that the South was the only side to promote slavery. Slavery was not outlawed in the United States until AFTER the Civil War was over, and many northerners continued to own slaves throughout the war. So does that mean that every state flag dating back to the Civil War should be outlawed?

I think you may be right. Im not an American. Yet,I agree that the flag is not necessairly responsible for slavery or anything blacks don't like about their history in America.
They were first enslaved by victorious African tribes after batles they had lost. Then, they were just sold for more money to English,Dutch,Spanish,Potuguesse and Maybe French colonialists on their way to the new world.
The Roman Empire had slaves from various countries for much longer than Americans. Yet, no one's asking to have Rome's historical monuments and structures bulldozed. The Japanese had slaves during their Colonialistic times before WW2. No one's protesting against them to remove thei flags. Why isn't there a big fuss over these flags flying around infront of buildings and monuments around the world ?
To me oit just looks like a flag that has stars that represented the United Confederate States at that time.
I think the old Rusian flag looks better than the new one. They should of kept it.

A few years ago there was a referendum here in Mississippi about changing the state flag, which has the Confederate Battle Flag in the canton.
During the heated campaign, one older black gentleman and his wife walked from Batesville, MS to the state Capitol in Jackson (about 150 miles) carrying the Confederate Battle Flag. He did it in protest against the denigration of the Confederacy and it's emblems. He told reporters that his great grandfather, a black man, had fought and bled under that flag and he knew that it stood for States Rights, not Racism.
FWIW, it is estimated that there were some 200,000 black soldiers under arms in the Confederate Army during the course of the war. Unlike black troops in the Union Army, they were not in segregated regiments with white officers. They marched and fought side by side with their white compatriots.
Early last year, my chapter of the Sons of Confederat Veterans placed a CSA grave marker on the grave of the famous bear hunter, and former slave Holk Collier, whowas a sergeant in the Confederate Cavalry (I don't remember the regiment).
The only other thing I have to say is "Damn the KKK and white supremacist for ealing and besmirching the emblems of the Confederacy!"

you are absolutley right about hate starts in the heart but sometimes it starts with how you were raised. i am by no means racist and do not perceive my self to be hateful. i too wonder why cant everyone just except our history it is in the past and there is no way that we can change it i feel bad for what happened to the slaves of that time bc no one should be treated they way they were but that was 200 years ago and we were not there. i dont understand why they cannot except the fact that we WERE NOT THERE and keep on about all the confederate flag stuff, it has just as much right being in the history books as anything else that has happened 200 years ago yes i do think the KKK did over use it, and that it is only a symbol of rednecks and the KKK but there is NOTHING we can do about the past and as far as i am concerned the flag should be flown or stored for historical purposes. i dont know what else we are supposed to do for them, it is not my fault or anyone else of this time that there ancestors were slaves and that is why a lot of people are racist bc people just cant get over it and it makes them hate the others bc they think we owe them something and i dont believe it should be that way no matter what race you are

i'm a Northerner. The accomplice flag is a factor of the historic previous of the South. and that i accept as true with them, that in case you do no longer like it, get out. it is been became into an emblem of racism via people who do no longer like it. in case you do no longer like it, then have Congress bypass a regulation, like Germany did after WWII, that bans the demonstrate of the flag (in Germany's case, the Nazi flag) in case you have self assurance it would be banned, i can not end you. this is your precise as an American Citizen.

Well kaye, I had to look hard, but I found it - your question is: "Hate starts in the heart, right?" I would say hate starts just as often in the mind.
