How even amongst evil, the good does prevail! People risked everything to challenge the evil facing themselves & others who were being persecuted. The human spirit could not be wiped out even in Hitler's desire to commit genocide against the Jews and others he was against. Look at Anne Frank... even in the the worst circumstances that did lead to her death, Anne still believed in the good of human beings! Her death was not in vain. Her spirit lives through her words and example as it does for many who challenge their oppressors. If you are older, see "Life Is Beautiful". Or, if younger read "The Cage" by Ruth Minsky sender who is a Holocaust survivor who lost familiy & friends but does not simply exist but LIVES her life to the fullest.
Remember, "The light of one candle shall put out the darkness." Each person makes a difference in the outcome!

REMEMBER THIS to remind you of why each person's voice DOES matter & people need to speak out for the good of all humanity not just their own groups:
First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

God, why would a teacher ask such a question?

Well... you could try to approach it economically. Usually when the country goes into a war, production increases which means profit increases. War bonds, factories, industrialization. But I would research that to be sure.

Or the involvement of several countries in the war. The US coming out of isolationism. I would also double check that.

You'd have to look very hard to find positives out of six million innocent deaths - but possibly Jews might say that it made them realise they could never assume that they were assimilated and able to live safely in any one country. (Many had previously thought they were safe and accepted in Germany.)

Therefore they had to create their own country which would be "by Jews, for Jews", and would be armed and able to defend Jews against all aggressors. Hence the creation of the state of Israel, which is still constantly under attack and probably always will be.
