The name is for our soon-to-be daughter and I have wanted to use the name for many years now but never got the chance to until now. :-) I heard it in a movie but cannot figure out how you would spell it and it look the way it should to be easy for others to pronounce it correctly on the first try. Phonetically it would look like MYUR-ah, sounding like Muriel but ending in an "ah" sound instead. What do you think?

You might try looking up how the name was spelled for the movie on IMDB.com.
I like the "h" suggestion, perhaps Murah. Although people could think that was pronounced Moo-rah. Or spell it like Meura or Miura or Myura.

I couldn't tell if you meant you wanted to drop the "ee-ell" or just the "ell" and add the "uh".

If you just want the two-syllable name I would definitely say go with Mira. That is the least likely to cause problems. Any other possibilities do not look right and present the possibility of mispronunciation.

3 Syllable possibilities:

Murhea
Miria <---this is the spelling I would suggest; all the others could be pronounced a variety of ways but I can't think of how else someone would say Miria without it sounding similar to what you've described.
Myrhea
Muria
Mirhea
Muirhea
Muiria

*Do you remember what movie? Maybe it's listed in imdb.com and you could find out what the name is and how it's spelled. Sometimes names sound wayyy different than how they are pronounced so that's just an idea.

Muria?

If you add an h to it, it might end up look like Mariah, so I think this is the only way to spell it.
