I receive section 8, i lost my job and was late with my rent..it is all paid except some late fees..i have court on monday.. i found this on the NJ law Q&A page:
Likewise, tenants who participate in a H.U.D. subsidy program are entitled to the additional protection of federal laws that require a written notice be served upon the tenant prior to the filing of any action for eviction.

does this mean that i should have got written notice before the filing? because i didnt...also on my lease, late fees are not written in to be *included as rent* can they evict only for late fees?

You don't get anything, you live in Section 8, be happy we pay for your housing. Now sell your computer so you can pay the rent. And maybe get a job so I don't have to support you and your 12 kids!!!!!

Notice should have been first serve on you before any filing of complaint against you. Thus, there was a violation of the procedure and object to the case filed against you.
