The first thing you should do is read your state's corporation laws, then form your company.

Go to your state's official web site and find the link for the Secretary of State. You will find the forms and fees schedule there. You will also want to do a name availability search to make sure your chosen name is not already in use by someone else.

The form itself (in Texas at least) is only two pages and requires a minimum amount of time to complete.

I completed the application one day and received confirmation from the state the next day.

Check into legalzoom.com. They have all the forms for your particular state. They are less expensive than going to a typical attorney. One of the things they specialize in is LLC's
