Yes is does. . BUT, Your computer should be alot faster honestly. I have a Toshiba laptop computer, and it had a 512MB RAM in it. Well, i went yesterday and bought a 256MB RAM and put it in there. OMG, I could tell the difference after i turned on my pc. . . Everything loads much much faster.

It's not a good idea to run too many programs at a time. You should try to kill as many useless programs, processes that you can. As anything that is currently running on your computer consumes some memory, therefore together they could eat up the entire RAM and thus your computer will freeze. The browser that you use for browsing, also takes up some RAM and thus slows down your computer.

RAM helps with overall processing speeds. Something you should do first is make sure you don't have an excessive amount of "background" programs running that slow down your computer. Click on Start and go to Programs and then the "Startup" folder and delete anything you don't need when your computer first starts up. Also do a CTRL + ALT + DELETE and click on the Task Manager and click Processes and end all the tasks that are NOT system and are NOT programs you know you need (that are USER processes).
Also something simple would be to scan for spyware:
Use Spybot or AdAware or both.
They both are good and both are free utilities:

Ram counts when doing anything on your computer. However it shouldn't be responsible for your internet crashing; if you're low on ram it would just run slowly. Do you notice it freezing up when you have more programs running? If so ram might be an issue.

Hi. You do not mention your OS, but assuming Win XP you should get an improvement by having a gig or more RAM. Vista will like you if you install 2-3GB of RAM. Best 'bang for the buck' (or Euro) that you can get.
