we have had a lot of leaders serve for a very long time in this country the longest being 17 years and currently we got a guy whos been in power for 11 and 1/2 running for his 5th term later this year. Is it time we limit the PMs time in office and after that time the plitical party in power must change leaders?

I don't think Australia should follow any lead from America on anything! I'd love to see intellectual debate on everything opened up here, regardless of what the USA may feel about it.

I love the quote from a comedian (and I'm sorry I can't remember who it was) who said:

"Politicians are like diapers - you need to change them regularly, and for the same reason"

I think we should leave it up to the people of Australia to decide and I think we have enough Americanism in our country already.

Also maybe the Americans have it wrong because they would never have had Bush Snr (Reagan would have stayed)or Bush Jnr because of Clinton's popularity so for once maybe the Americans have it wrong just think if there had been no Bushs in the Whitehouse no Gulf war no Iraq war.

The term limit of the head of state must be limited so that there will be no abuse of power, tendency for dictatorship and party domination.
