You need to put your feet up, have some water to hydrate, and time the contractions. You're having them frequently that if they're not going away when you relax, you should get checked out. It's not abnormal to have braxton hicks and have them be uncomfortable, but they go away and this back pain you describe might signal something more serious....if these don't or if they get stronger or anything else concerning (fluid, bleeding) you need to call the MD. It's probably nothing, but if it isn't, you want to get your doses of steroids in and meds to stop the labor if possible if that's what it is!

I'm 36 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I'm having and have been having braxton hicks contractions for about 6-7 weeks now. 3 days ago my Dr told me I was dialating already and that some of those contractions are real contractions. However, they aren't regular, they aren't getting much more intense, but I feel changes going on. I'd say take it easy and time them. If they get closer or they become painfull contact your doctor ASAP.

I wish my "contractions" would hurry up with some frequency.

Good Luck

Thats around when I started getting my braxton hicks contractions, and they were very irregular. Sometimes 10 in a half hr, or 1 in 5 hrs...If they don't hurt, then they really just don't matter...
The doctor told me to contact them when the contractions stick with you through exercise and walking. Most braxton hicks contractions go away as soon as you get active. Good luck!

Braxton hicks can certainly be uncomfortable. Time them. True contractions only get more intense and closer together as time goes by. Braxon Hicks are unpredictable. If the contractions are not coming like clockwork and then getting closer together you are not in labor. But always call your doctor if you are unsure, thats what they are there for!

if you can call your doctor. They will be able to tell you.
If you go to the hospital and say you are having 4 an hour, they are going to send you home anyway. Sounds like braxton hicks, but if it is the real thing the hospital wont let you stay until your contraction are only a couple of mins apart.

As a mother of 2 and currently pregnant with twins, I can honestly tell you an answer. If you are able to sit at this computer and type a question, baby it's not time yet. I am a nurse if that helps any. Braxton Hick's contractions are normal at this stage of pregnancy. They are considered false labor or false contractions. You may feel these for the next few weeks. If they get too rough, time them. If possible, find something to occupy yourself. Watch out for things like your mucous plug, which looks like clear snot, or your water breaking, which will feel like warm sticky pee-pee. Otherwise, you;ll go to the hospital for nothing and be sent back home. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think it sounds normal. back pain is usually cause by the position of the baby. the most important thing you wanna look for is a change in your vaginal discharge if it seems watery or mucusy thats when you know it is time. i know it is uncomfortable being pregnant but any issues such as this it is important that you talk to your doctor right away about it

It could be Braxton Hicks, it could be active labor...since you're only 31 weeks, I'd call the doc right away.

You need to get off of your feet and time the contractions. If they progressively get closer together, if your back pain gets worse, if you start leaking any fluid, you should go to the hospital to be checked.
