I have always considered myself moderate with a lean to the right. I sit on my fence sometimes leaning left, mostly leaning right. Since participating on this site, I find myself in danger of falling off the fence right into republican-land. Is there anyone else that feels their political beliefs changing?

What is it you have seen that is changing it?

Possibly, I'm an Independent right now and have been for over 25 years. But experiencing all the vitriol on this site has just about convinced me that I might never vote Republican again as long as I live. I used to vote more Republican than Democratic, much more. Now? I'm so disgusted with Republicans in general that I might just give it up and join the Democratic Party. I know that right wingers and liberals both post a lot of hate stuff. But, I've really become more disgusted with the Republican propensity for sticking their heads in the sand, following along blindly, and refusing to deal with the reality and chaos that is Iraq. That sort of deliberate obtuse attitude has really affected how I think about them.

There are maroons on both sides on Y/A they make no difference either way.

I doubt anyone else can change your political affiliation, but on several occasions I have had to re-think a position or a belief as I was presented with facts and or references that were factual and believable. But this is rare.

It may sound biased but overral the people who are moderate and to the right are more apt to ask and answer question with logic and references.

Again there are maroons on both sides.

so, you didn't know what you believed before and have since just conformed to the Republicans... I see that a lot on here... group think in the face of some extreme ideas... (which granted there are some on here, but that doesn't mean you have to get radical yourself)

I don't think I've changed my affiliation, but just realized how naive the majority of people are about the world and politics in general...

I mean you see these questions about just PURE PROPAGANDA FROM BOTH SIDES... and people lining up 30 deep to go "yep"... with not an original thought in the same state as the question...

it's just pathetic... the majority of it...

You are not the first moderate to fall into republican-land. But you can be following only what you really believe is true. One person told me that they just got sick of the left's bashing and negativity. This has only gotten worse over time. But for you it might be something else.

No one has been able to change my mind.
I will say that I do have a better understanding of the opposing point of view.

The left is running rabidly unchecked. They have no leadership and none of the Moderate Democrats want to try and reign them in. It would be political suicide if they tried. Look at Lieberman. He would not get in line with the crazy and they gave him the boot.
