It depends on what kind of help. Still, I have no problem saying "no" because one day when I was neck deep in trouble and sinking, I realized that everyone I had helped in the past wouldn't lift a finger to help me when I needed it the most.

That's a problem for a lot of people. We all like for other people to like us. But, if you're not careful, you can be taken advantage of. There's nothing wrong with doing things for people that we don't exactly feel like doing - that's kindness at work. But if you're always the one giving, and others don't do nice things for you, you need to rethink things.
Start by saying no to someone who you know will not return the favor. You'll find it isn't that hard.

I ask what it is, if its nothing major then i will usually help them out. Otherwise no, but thats cause i never have free time to mess around with someone elses problems, i have enough of my own complications with work and college

Yup, If someone ask for help, and I am able, I usually do it.

if it is somethng I can help them with.. no, I do not mind at all.. not even if is a stranger..as long is no sign of danger... that is what Southern hospitality is all about.
