Yes. I always tell them, and try to give it back. If they argue with me about it, I don't argue. It's not my job to force people not to be stupid. I've been given change back from a 20, when I've only given a 10 more times than I can count.

I bought a $10.00 money order at the post office once. When I was filling it out, I noticed it was $100.00. I took it back, and the lady was so grateful.
I've had this kind of thing happen several times. I always return the money. Those people are held accountable for that money, and everyone needs their job.

it has happened a few times. I always give the money back
You have to consider that most sales clerks earn Min wage at best.
And at the end of their shift when they cash out ... if the till does not balance out ...the may get accused of taking money or have the money missing taken from their pay.
Honesty is ALWAYS ...The Best Policy !

I tried to give it back!
I cashed a check and the teller gave me $100.00 too much. I went back to the drive in teller and told her what she had done. She informed me that "I don't make mistakes like that!" I said, " Well, all right then, it must be my mistake but don't call me later when your drawer is $100.00 short.!!!" and with that I drove off. She p*ssed me off with her attitude and I spent that $100.00 and she probably had to take and pay it back out of her own money. TRUE STORY!

Once the cashier undercharged me. I didn't realize until I looked at the receipt, in the parking lot. I went back into the store and the lady at customer service corrected things. :D

When a cashier gves me too much change, I tend to keep it if it is under $5.00. I have never been given too much at the bank.
