IS this annoying and lacking tact?
I recently bought a used BMW, new to me but a fun sporty car that I can now have with a successful new job. I had a short list of five cars but chose this one. A couple weeks later I received this email from my mom asking me for information about the exact same cars on my list but one year newer than my car. Isn't that a bit lacking in tact? My mom has always been jealous and competative of me. I thought she had grown up but I guess not?

That's sad.
Or it could be your mom wants to share with you the joy of a car, maybe she's a little upset that you're living your own life and is trying (pathetically) to get close to you.
Just tell her what's good on gas, is affordable, and worth the investment. Be tactful, even if she isn't.

MY MOM IS THE SAME! Except I can't get a car yet. Everytime someone says "You're daughter is pretty" she all of a sudden gets jealous and then later when we go somewhere else. Her friends just have to say "She's pretty but not as pretty as you!" it's so annoying!
Sometimes I wish she'd grow up........
She's 40 and still goes clubbing! I tell her to stop and wear more covery clothes, and ask what she's trying to do, get guys all over her? And she starts to flick me off.
UGH!

WOW thats pitiful!!! I have heard some mothers and daughters have relationships like that where the mom is jealous of the daughter.

My mom does that to me too...I think she is jealous of what I have and what she doesnt have and I think she is mad b/c she doesnt get to see my boys like she wants. My mother tries to be cute and stuff like I use to...although I could dress all cute and such but she was too heavy to (before I had my kids) and I could wear bikinis and I think she was jealous. But moms can get jealous of their daughters. If we didnt do it how mom wanted then it wasnt right.

Your mom is obviously an older lady now as are you. So be nice kiddo, you never know when you'll lose someone. Blink of an eye. just give in to her.

Maybe she is just feeling "old" and doesn't know what is cool anymore. She may not be tring to out-do you...just emulating you and trying to recapture her youth.
