I just saw 2 or 3 thread asking if this name was pretty or whatever and I was just wondering if it was a girl's name or boy's name?

I remember the Coyote Ugly character being called Jersey, but I also knew a boy in my elementary school named Jersey.

Anyone know?

Can be either, but I think it's cute for a girl.

Meaning: Grassy Island - Jersey, one of the Channel Islands off the coast of the UK, along with Guernsey. Both Jersey and Guernsey have given their names to types of sweater. New Jersey, U.S. State.

We like this name so much we already have it picked out for our little girl who is due in November. When we told our friends about our choices for boy or girl, one said, Isn't Jersey a boy's name? We really think it's an either name but I am sure that our girl will be the only Jersey around. We are naming her after my husband's dairy cattle which we both love to hate. There is also a funny story about why Jersey's are so important to us but it's not appropriate here. We love their milk but hate the smell of their poop! Good luck trying to find any information about a meaning too. The only meaning I've been able to find is 'grassy island' or after New Jersey the state.
