Just bought a nicer button down dress shirt with plastic points in the collar, and since it's white you can see them a bit. Do I leave them in?

You should absolutly leave them in the shirt. This keeps the collars from curling or going haywire in any other way. Most dress shirts will have these plastic stays either sewn into the collar or they can be taken out if they ever get old or broken thus allowing for them to replaced.

It's optional really, but they are to keep the collar points from curling. If you don't like the look remove them and try a bit of starch.

you are supposed to leave them in. they keep the points nice and neat.
you might see if you can find clear ones. sometimes places like nordstroms and brooks brothers sells spares.
