I heard Metallica on the radio when I was about 11 and I got their first 5 CDs, but I mostly still listened to alternative rock. When I was 15, GTA: Vice City came out and I heard Slayer for the first time ("Raining Blood"). Then I started looking into a whole bunch of thrash bands. Now, I'm 20 and I listen to a whole bunch of different types of metal like heavy, power, thrash, death, black, and doom.

I am not really into Metallica,or many other HEAVY metal band, but I do like some pretty hard rock. I guess I got turned onto them when I was about fourteen. The bands would be Guns & Roses, Bon Jovi, DecembeRadio, and there are a few more too. But that seems to be all that I can think of right now!!! Oh and I also LOVE Three Doors Down!!!

Well, I have WEND to thank for that, as well as Linkin Park and Nine Inch Nails. In 2001, when I was just a wee imbisile of 11, I was flipping through radio stations after I got a walkman for Christmas, I found 106.5 The End. First they played Closer by Nine Inch Nails, followed quickly by In The End by Linkin Park.

Well, my mom started noticing it was the only station I listened to, non stop, and soon I was getting all sorts of CDs for my birthdays and for Christmas, since all I had was the chart-toppers they played on 106.5, I didn't get a good sampling of music until my mom couldn't figure out what specific bands I liked.

So, 7 years later, I have 176 songs on my MP3 player, all rock, but ranging from emo, to punk, to goth rock, to heavy metal. So yeah.

GNR came out when I was in jr. high and I liked that, but still didn't really get into metal/hard rock. Highschool I liked Nirvana and Metallica, but still listened to a bunch of other crap. When I joined the military, I started listening to The Offspring and Korn, and it's just gotten heavier since then. My favorites now are American Head Charge, killswitch Engage, Chamaira, and Tool.

I'm 28 and I got into rock as early as 4...from MTV and my father. He listened to Led Zeppelin, Styx and Queen. Got into metal when I noticed Metallica at age 9. Hardcore metal followed soon after.

Back when I was 8 years old (1993). A friend of mine turned me onto the Jimi Hendrix Experience and I was immediately hooked on hard rock. As years went on, I discovered bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Who, Cream, and many others. Even though I'm only 22, I prefer classic hard rock more than anything.

The first harder rock bands that I liked were System of a Down, Slipknot, and Evanescence. I think I liked Evanescence first, but I can't remember... and I was about 10 years old and in 5th grade at the time. My older sister had CDs by them and I would listen to them a lot.

Led Zeppelin. Every song is different from eachother, some hard, some acoustic, some totally bizarre, almost all awesome.
I don't think any band compares.
They were before my time, but they are timeless.
