If the larger of the two numbers is 3 times the smaller and their sun is 96, what are the numbers ?

Then 3X = larger number
so:
3X + X = 96
4X= 96
x = 24
Smaller number is 24
Larger number is 3 x 24= 72

3w= the larger number
3w+w=96
4w=96
4w/4=96/4
w=24
3w=72
