no, in order to have connectivity between the GBA games, you need to use GBAs, you cannot use DS systems.
this is because the GBA games do not know how to use the WiFi that the DS has. therefore, it would need to use link cables, which, as you know, do not work on the DS
so the only way to do it is with the GBA/GBA SP
