will the world end in 2012?

according to the mayans, the world will end on december 12, 2012. will it really end? its depressing really, i'd like to see the rest of the world.. yes i know it sounds strange. 8'(

No relax the world is gonna be OK ,
climate change(Global warming) is just going to affect all that lives on the surface

but there are so many other possibilities

many predictions are for the years between 2012 and 2020
Nostradamus,the mayas ,Egyptians Jesus ,

and Terrance Mckennas time wave who put the magnetic output of the world into a computor projection that stopped at zero in 2012,this means the globe has stopped and it starts turning
the other way ,the resulting change of currents will turn the planet into a giant washing machine cleaning the surface

then there are the meteors storms (armageddon) ,the gulf of Mexico is the result of one that would have made life exstinct for a while ,this would result in an other ice age because globe gets covered in dust for a few years,blocking out the sun.

then there are more posible natural disasters
Volcanos are coming to life everywhere
the weather has giant storms like hurricanes ,tornados ,tidal waves ,earth quackes

a shift of the earth crust ,would change the position of the poles
under Anrarctica were found fosilized tropical plants indication the pole must have been in a different place then (the mainland atlantis is thought to be under it )

Apart from that , the biggest threat to any species of exstinction is ,when there are too little ,and when there are too many ,so overpopulation is also a threat

and the USA appears to be gunning for a global nuclear conflict .it is most likely that this will get us first ,looking at present politics

the planet will probably survive unless humanities bombs result it to be knocked out of its orbit

so many ends to choose from
if it wasnt so serious it would be rediculous

meanwhile enjoy life .and make the most of it at least we are all in the same boat

There have been a ton of different predictions for when the world is going to end... and so far, and think we're ok, don't you think? If every prediction made was true, our lives would be very strange, and this one is no exception. The Mayans do not exist anymore anyway, why bother with their predictions? Furthermore, no one can predict the end of the Earth, not the Mayans, not even scientists can pinpoint a certain time/day/year. No sense worrying about something that's not going to happen.

It is very possible the world will end on that year only if a World War begins. America basically has enough power to blow up the entire world and our technology is doubling and likely to triple over the next few years. I remember my dad telling me that when World War IV begins, the weapons will be rocks, but humanity would have been almost totally destroyed. If you look at in in the bright side wars probably have 10% chance of happening and about only 100 happen per 1000 years or even less. Just look at the 10% and ignore the 100.

While it is important to learn from History, it is more important to learn what is being said right now by possible future world leaders...

For example, Hillary Clinton just told the world that she would end the Iraq war immediately if she was elected president. Hey, that is like a trade with the American people...You give me this and I will give you that. So Iraq, and the Iraqui people get stiffed/stuffed. Do you think the world will last very long after 2008? I don't. So don't go banking on anything in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Look for world riots and bedlam as Hillary takes control. A Woman is going to be in control and together with Smooth Willie, she is going to fix everything for at least 30 days.

According to the Mayan astronomers, the date of December 12, 2012 will be an allignment of the heavens and a rebirth of the Mayan Culture... Not the end of the world.

Modern Scientist have confirmed that the planets will line up and allighn themselves with the center of our galaxy. It just goes to show the astounding astronomical accuracy of the Mayans, and predictablilty of the universe.

This culture had astronomic knowledge that rivals our own today.

While the interpretation of the Mayan calendar ending on that date is debateable (many believe that at that point the calendar simply starts over and keeps going), it is interesting to note that our sun is predicted to pass through the exact center of our galaxy in mid-December of 2012. The Mayans were extremely advanced astronomers, but it is still unclear how they would have been able to predict any significance of this date given the tools at their discretion.

From a physics perspective, this day has no real significance. I wouldn't worry too much about this particular prediction, but I would marvel at some of the amazing astronomical predictions that the Mayans were able to make.

The last think I heard was more than 10 years ago and the world was going to end May 06, 2006. That didn't happen.

Do not worry about that prediction, since no human can ever predict what the future holds. And yes I include psychics and even Nostradamus. They're just trying to guess what will happen. and 90% of the tome, predictions will not come true.
I've heard also of May 6, 2006 and January 1, 2000 that the world will end. And so it did not end.
So do not believe those rumors. Just carry on with your life as usual and let the issue pass.

the mayans didn't say the world will end on december 12 2012 what they said is that it would be the end of the current age. many believe that the earth will purge itself of technology that is damaging it and so only those who know how to tend to the earth ie. farm for food and what not will survive.
