You should use a 25 or 40 watt appliance bulb. You can use a regular type in a pinch. But regular types are not made for extreme temp changes and could go boom.

No, you'll need to use a low wattage (40W) appliance bulb. Some are transparent and some are not. The reason why you would want to replace it with an appliance bulb is because they're made with a heavier filament so they withstand some amount of vibration, they also limit wattage because in those confined areas, you usually don't require as much.

Take care.

Once, I was cleaning out the fridge and the cold, wet sponge touched the hot bulb (it was hot 'cause the door had been open for a while already) and the bulb exploded and glass went everywhere. It was just a regular bulb and I have only used appliance bulbs ever since. Don't be lazy and cheap - spring for the proper bulb...you can get 'em at the grocery store.

I would go to any hardware store and purchase a light bulb for refrigerators, but I was always told to use the bulbs that come directly from the manufacturer (they work best and lasts longer)

Hardware light bulbs costs a few dollars
Manufacturer's bulbs cost around $5.00 plus shipping.

Your choice.....

I'd stick with an appliance bulb but the light actually only comes on when the door is open, so it really doesn't matter.

Use any bulb marked on the package as intended for refrigerators.

I don't know, but experience tells me you should ONLY use an appliance bulb made for refrigerators.

I have used other types of lamps for years with no problem. Use a small diameter and a low watt, like 25-40

Your fridge should have a sticker saying what wattage not to use over. go to the store and buy an applience bulb for that rating.
