did you check the BIOS if the CD drive is detected? if not, then check the master/slave select jumper at the back of the cd drive is set to SLAVE.

I think your RAM is going bad. Any other error message, freezing etc? I would advise downloading an iso of memtest86+ and running it over night but you need to boot from a CD drive and your's isn't working! Could you put the RAM in another box and see if it develops problems? Doesn't sound like 3 bad CD drives, know what I mean? Good luck.

You have to make sure if your using 2 CD-Roms, that one of them is set to MASTER and the other is set to SLAVE.

If both are set to the same thing they will not work because they are working against each other. Just make sure one is set to master and the other is set to slave. It will solve all your problems.

Do you have Adaptec software ? this normally cause the filters to die, search for Adaptec upper and lower filter for a cure.
