How come these guys haven't been drafted yet?

They were both good in college, largely because they played on excellent teams. Keep in mind that QBs get too much credit when things go well, and they get too much blame when things go wrong, and things went well for these guys pretty much all the time because they both played on extremely talented teams. And for various reasons, including size, release time, accuracy, and in Smith's case, character issues, these players are not considered to be promising players in the NFL.

This is a pretty weak draft for quarterbacks, and the two you mention really don't have the "NFL size." Meaning they aren't 6'6", plus neither really had great, and I mean GREAT college careers. Troy Smith was probably a little over rated and had to wait for his senior year to be the man. Chris Leak was a bit under rated and suffered under three years with Ron Zook as UF's head coach, and never really fit into Urban Meyer's system. But what everyone should remember is that Joe Montana was a 3rd round draft pick, and he is arguablly (I stress arguablly to all the Dan Marino fans) the best QB to play in the NFL, and the knocks on him were lack of size and lack of arm strength. Meanwhile, Mike Vick was a first rounder and has been a disappointment. The point is where a player gets drafted doesn't really matter. What's going to matter is their on field performance.

P.S. Brady Quinn was drafted way too high, but that's what the starting QB gig at Notre Dame will do for you.

To quote Dennis Miller here, "That's just my opinion; I could be wrong."

Troy Smith's performance in the National Championship game was the "nail in his coffin" so to speak in ensuring him a low draft pick. It's obvious he has several issues and when compared to Russell and Quinn, is just not good enough, regardless of his trophy. Chris Leak also has a lot of issues even though his team won the championship, NFL has to look at the QB themselves, not the big games they've won, They are both projected to be picked somewhere around 5-6th round.

Cause Troy Smith played horribly in his last game. and this shows an inability to lead the team in big games.

even though Florida won, many teams are worried that Leak will not play well in the NFL because of his size. some have criticized his QB potential.

because Troy smith will not be a very good NFL QB he is to slow to be a vick and doesn't have the arm strength or accuracy to be a pocket QB. leak just isn't a great QB in general he was ok in College but he will go 4th round at the earliest.

Unfortunately they are shorter than the typical NFL quarterback.

Troy is 5' 10" & Chris is 6'

How come? For one, Troy Smith is a loser, and Leak because he cant make it far in the pros so it would be a waste of a pick so far.

If you kept up with the sport rather than just assume the quarterbacks in the title game are the best, you might know the answer already. It's like clockwork, someone gets on here and asks about leak and smith every 15 minutes

because Chris leak doest have the arm strength. and same with Troy. NFL teams arent looking for runners. They are looking for throwers

i think troy smith goes in the 5th round, and leak plays arena football or on a training squad.
