Caddyshack 2, Slap Shot 2, and Major League III: Back to the Minors should all be buried deep in garbage dump somewhere and never heard from again.
Ones that were better than the originals, I'd say Shrek 2, Mission Impossible 2 & 3, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

I thought Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan was better than the first movie; Naked Gun 2 wasn't better than, but just as good; Star Wars 2: Revenge of the Sith was better than the Phantom Menace.
Worst than Another 48 Hours; Fast and the Furious 2; Rocky V; Rambo 2; Back to the Future 2; Teen Wolf 2; There are just sooo many sequel stinkers.

Superman 2 classic example of the sequel being better. I'd say Aliens as well (granted, Alien was more horror, Aliens more action).
Pretty much all the horror movie franchises (F13, Halloween, Elm Street, etc) the first movie was the best and the sequels got progressively worse.
The "prequel trilogy" was definitely worse than the original Star Wars movies.

Good sequels: Evil Dead 2, Spiderman 2, Terminator 2, Aliens, Austin Powers:Spy who Shagged Me, Empire Strikes Back,
Bad sequels: Open Water 2(Why, god did they make a 2nd one?),
By the way: Indiana Jone and the Temple of Doom was a prequel.

I agree with you on Star Wars and Raiders. I also liked Terminator 2 better. I didn't like Pirates of the Carribean 2 as well as the first.

I can only remember one horrible sequel and it's been etched in my memory forever. I practically hid my face behind a pillow when I watched this horrible movie.
It's called Return to the Blue Lagoon starring Milla Jovovish.
Horrible acting, they completely destroyed the movie concept, it was basically a remake since they stole almost all the situations from the previous movie (The Blue Lagoon".... and did I mention the hideous acting?

Jones C, I totally agree with you on "Superman 2" and "Empire Strikes Back."
Another one on my list of sequel toppers is "Spiderman 2." Hopefully, "Spiderman 3" will top them all. I think "The Evil Dead 2" also topped its predecessor. "Beethoven 2" and "Kill Bill 2" also did nice, in my opinion.
As for worse sequel, how about "MIB 2," "Son of Mask," or "Hellraiser"?
One horror film that I would like to have a good final ending is "Phantasm."

Godfather 2 was better than the 1st the sequel to Saturday nite fever which was Staying Alive was terrible
