Why has this commercial phrase continued for sooooo long? It wasn't even mildly amusing from day one, and now it has continued for years. Do they simply not have intelligent writers for Geico commercials?

It`s all about the public identifying the product NOT identifying WITH the (unfunny) commercial. We always remember those stupid jingles and in fact cant`t get them out of our heads. So the ad execs seem to be doing a great job for their clients.

I find those Geico commercials about 'sensitive' cavemen to be very amusing.

I guess Hollywood has contacted Geico about the rights to use those caveman characters for a movie.

this has been the basic understanding for a long time, primarily in regards to neanderthals. a man named boule created a picture of a neanderthal something like 100 yrs ago that depicted him has hunched over, boorish, brutish, and barely human, and this image has stuck in the public's mind since. cro-magnon man, further evolved than neanderthal in the general understanding, were capable of speech, created the famous cave art, and were frankly amazingly advanced. check out http://www.tolweb.org/treehouses/?treehouse_id=3710 and archeaology.info for more information. there are also tons of books on the subject. The Neanderthal's Necklace by Juan Luis Arsuaga can be a dry read as it has much info about the climate at the time of neanderthal, but the final chapters have interesting details about them. i agree about the commercials. they perpetuate an entirely fallacious perception.

It think it's funny and, judging by how many years they've been around, a lot of people like them too. You can't fault geico for producing commercials they know that people will like enough to buy what they're selling.

I agree with you but I know some higher up in the company and those commercials are working. I can't believe it but what's not funny or amusing at all; they are to others.

I keep hoping the Eagle would eat the Geico lizard and then go after the duck.

Yes, it's not very funny I agree. They never really change their commercials, though. It's always the lizard thing, or tha caveman. At least that's all I have seen them play for years. Good point. Agreed!
Cheers, love!
