My flower horn left eye has been swelling up the past couple of weeks. The area around its eye is becoming whitish and there is no change...even though i bought a new tank. I tried using medicine I bought at a local aqurium...but the problem still persists... PLS HELP ME!

Its called Saucer eyes, a specific flower horn disease and are caused in some strains of Fh's due to poor water quality. The original species A. Trimaculatum is very delicate regarding water charged with nitrates and phosphates and maybe you have one of these.

You need to first increase the temp of your Fh tank to at-least above 27 degree C.

Add Tetracycline 2mg / 5 liter

Repeat treatment once every 2 days for 10 days or 5 times .

Do a 20%-30% water change every 2 days before you are doing Tetracycline treatment..

Do not use any other medication or pop eye treatments, neither treat this with Maracide or Clout as it will be useless for a Fh.

All the Best !

An eye problem wouldn't be dropsy - more like popeye or fluke infection. See Exophthalmia and eye cloud in the link below:

or a fungal infection: http://www.fishdeals.com/fish_diseases/cataracts/

The good news is it's not dropsy. A bulging eye is usually a symptom of pop eye, but with the area around it becoming whitish as well I would say that it's a parasite problem. Specifically a protozoan parasite. Treat this with Maracide or Clout and it should clear within a few days. Continue the treatment for a full 10 days though, even if you don't see anymore symptoms after only a few days. That's very important to preventing a relapse. Also follow any other directions on the package carefully, including removing the carbon from your filter.
