I'm in my mid 20's and I feel like I can't relate to people my own age. I like oldies, classic rock & roll, Motown artists, Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, etc. I don't like rap or any kind of ghetto music. I feel like I can't relate to any people my own age. My morals and values are different. I don't like doing drugs, or going to clubs. I always say I was born into the wrong generation. Is there such a thing as generation identity crisis?

If there is a generation identity crisis, I can relate! I was born in the totally wrong time, either that or I really miss a former life (actually 2 of them!). Don't worry about it, just find some places and activities where you can meet people who are from the generation you can most relate to! A good percentage of my friends are 15-20 years older than I am... It's cool because I am the "baby" (which took some getting used to), but I sure will miss them when they all retire to Florida!!! LOL

Perhaps you are an old soul!
There is such a variety of music today!
There is so much out there!
Frank Sinatra or rap crap?
That is a no-brainer.
You will find other like minded individuals!
Just be patient!
Stay on track!
Your peers will grow up someday!
Check back with them when they are 40!

There's nothing wrong with you. I'm only 13 (turning 14 in 6 weeks) and I don't like rap, or anything popular. And it's good that you're not doing drugs. Drugs are for the people that want to be cool, or with a lot of stress.

There's nothing wrong with you. I'm 28 and I'm almost the exact same way as you. I don't go out, love classic music, totally dispise rap/hip-hop, and I could never relate to anyone my own age...no matter how old I was. So you're not alone. In fact, I thought I was the only one!

First there is nothing wrong with you. you could just not relate because well sometimes or all the time you could feel that you belong in a different generation. It doesn't matter just hang-out with people who u do relate to. People wont judge you like u might think if you do.

different people like different things.Frank sinatra still sells a lot of cds. Swing(from the 40's) was so popular about ten years ago they made a movie about it with that guy who was dating jennifer anniston. Look whats popular on tv 'Dancing with the stars' thats 30 million other people like you! Chicago the musical, Dreamgirls i could go on

Are you nuts? Nothing is wrong with you. I know TONS of people who adore Sinatra and the Beatles and all that old stuff. People that judge you on your taste of music - they shouldn't be hanging out with you. And I think it's really cool you're not into drugs like most people. Be yourself, and eventually someone will come along and you'll definitely be able to relate to them. Be patient. :)
Hope it helps!

GIC. What a disorder.
Some people could refer to you as a '60s chick or whatever generation you think you are. I don't think you should really worry about it, because it's nice to see some people aren't following the crap rap the radio are playing these days.
