The reality is that no one really knows just exactly what level of alcohol consumption causes fetal alcohol syndrome. And recent studies show that even when fetal alcohol syndrome is not present, there may behavioral issues later in life that are more highly correlated with alcohol use during pregnancy. Not to mention the looks and comments you may get from others who see an obviously pregnant woman consuming alcohol in public. Personally, if I were you (and I have been since I've had 2 pregnancies), I would just skip it (drinking that is, not the party).

Red wine is very good for you. A 6oz glass of celebratory wine will not hurt the baby at this stage of your pregnancy. I have anxiety and instead of taking my medicine my doctor reccomended that I have a glass of red wine when under severe stress. So far this pregnancy, I'm 31 weeks, Ive had 4 glasses of wine and the baby is perfectly healthy.

A single glass of wine every now and then won't be harmful to the baby. My OB told me that it would take quite a bit of frequent alcohol use to harm the the baby. Let me tell you a bit of history. I was told I couldn't have babies. So when I was 5 months along before I found out I was pregnant, I was totally freaked out that I may have harmed my baby!!! I enjoy a glass or wine of an evening, had SURGERY, X-rays, took hydrocodone for pain after surgery, and did heavy lifting at work( I was a CNA) and was exposed to all kinds of nonsocomial diseases working as a CNA. Needless to say I was really worried for my baby's health. My OB did several test, monitored my very well, and all came out perfectly healthy!

Well one glass of wine really isnt going to do any harm is it? but if you are going to feel guilty or worried about having it then you are not going to enjoy it.
I had a bit of a crazy day at work today and I thoroughly enjoyed a glass of wine when I got home. Guilt free.
My OB says an occasional glass of wine is fine. But dont feel pressured either way. Congrats and good luck with everything.

Why risk it - even if it is only half a glass - be safe - protect your child - don't drink. Don't be selfish, you know it's unhealthy to drink while pregnant, so stay away from the stuff. If I knew a women was pregnant & seen her drinking (even if it was only a little bit) I would think that was bad, I would think she was shelfish, irresposible, not mature enough to have a baby, & a bad mother.

You would be JUST FINE. Even a whole glass of wine would be fine as long as that's all and you don't do it all the time. It's very common for European women to drink wine on a pretty regular basis and their kids are healthy. Other people may give you really dirty looks, though, so be prepared for that. Otherwise just do what you think is right and have fun!!

You'll get the pregnancy police fussing at you and telling you you shouldn't have anything to drink in your condition. Honestly, one small glass of wine IS NOT going to give your baby fetal alcohol syndrome. The mother has to get drunk many, many times to cause retardation and deformities. There is a lesser version of fetal alcohol syndrome, but once again you would realistically have to drink much more than one drink to do any harm. Every mother I know drank in pregnancy before they knew they were pregnant, and their babies are FINE. Even your doctor will tell you not to worry about one glass of wine or champagne, as long as you CAN limit yourself to only one glass, and only that time...as long as you can keep it under control and in moderation. Just be safe and responsible, and stick to that one glass, and you won't have a problem. After all, your mom didn't KNOW not to drink when she was pregnant with you, and you seem to be a fairly intelligent human being, right?

I would not have a glass of wine, however I have had a few sips of wine as I miss it so much! I don't want to harm my baby at all though so I didn't chance it.
I would ask your OB. Believe me, they get all kinds of questions from us prego's!!!!

I wouldn't do it. One glass of wine; One sip of beer, even one little cup of wine at Communion (I take grape juice) is NOT worth my baby's health. I wasn't a big drinker to begin with, so I don't really miss it. Even though I drank more beer, I told my husband I miss wine more.
To me, it's not worth my baby's health. I even hold my breath when I have the misfortune of having to walk through smoking areas of restaurants.

uh.. in all honesty not that big a deal
People might look at u with big-ol-omg-eyes,
I caved beer ssso much during my second pregnancy but i would only take 2 or 3 sips.. my son is a perfect 7 yr. old. but i can't honestly say
"yea go for it" because we all know it's a big
"no-no" during pregnancy... we also know that babies that come out sick, pre-mature or whatever, is from heavy use of liquor or smokes
I found i was prego 12 weeks into my pregnancy and i was scared cuz i found out untill after all the major holidays, turkey-day , X-mas , & new years,
and on top of that i've smoked on and off for the past 2 yrs. "sigh" I told all this to my doc's & they said it was nothing to worry about as long as it wasent an everyday thing , more than 4 beers, or more than a pack of cig's a day.. that was extreme ...anyways srry to talk so much about me .. but i'm just trying to ease ur mind..
omg i hope i dont get yelled at by others after posting this
happy "labor day"
