Many reasons

Immaturity, too great of expectations, distorted view of marriage, not enough time before getting to know this person and their family, selfish, hiding true self and then get into trouble, etc. And the list goes on.

So many people jump into a marriage too quickly not thinking about all the work that goes into a marriage. It isn't as easy as saying I do and letting everything ride. You have to work on it on a daily basis. It is well worth it when you find that special someone. No one is perfect and I think people tend to look at all the negatives instead of the positives.

Because some people just mary for money and not for the love of being with someone. It is quite common for people to get engaged or married just because the significant other has money or their family does. Really if we loked at the numbers of people who divorced and the reason was because the money did not make them love each other or they were not capable of living with each other it would be staggering.

Considering money and finances is in the top 5 reasons people look to divorce people just don't marrry for love anymore they look at bank accounts and 401k's.

But really it comes down to they can't see themselves with just one person for the rest of there lives.

I don't know. Sometimes I think it is immaturity, the other times I think it is stupidity.

I worked with a woman whose eldest daughter married her BF of 7 years. (continuous BF not on/off) They lived together for 4 years prior to getting married. 8 months later they filed for divorce.

Pitiful, just pitiful.

Because ANYBODY of a certain age can get married. You don't have to be intelligent, mature, trustworthy..........there are few requirements legally. So, alot of times people marry that shouldn't have. In this particular instance it's a big red sign that tells the world you're an idiot.

Because they married "Mr. or Mrs. Right Now" instead of "Mr. or Mrs. Right"
They chose to marry the one they could live with instead of the one they couldnt live without.
