If you have a confirmed overheating problem due to inadequate case ventilation, improve your air intake up front and exhaust at the rear just below the power supply.

The spot case fan is useful for additional cooling of the northbridge chip, or an overclocked video card, or an overclocked/overvolted RAM but does not help much w/ case ventilation.

The fan should be constantly running otherwise the CPU will burn out in about 10 to 30 seconds. Every electrical device adds heat, hard drives, cards, etc. You can't replace a CPU fan with a case fan. A case fan will simply help regulate the overall temperature of your system.
